Lisa Carrington's Gold Medal - By Levi

My favourite athlete is Lisa Carrington. She is an amazing athlete at Canoeing because she came first and won the gold medal this year at the 2012 Olympic Games. Lisa was born in 1989 and where she trains is at Eastern Bay Ohope. She came 1st K2 1000m A Final 2010 World Cup Series. Her favorite food is a slushy (Icy drink) and she lives in a town called Ohope, in New Zealand.

One of Lisa Carrington’s goal was to win a gold medal and she has done it. She competed in the Olympics and reached her goal. Here is a video link about Lisa. She is an amazing athlete to watch and man you had to see her because she was faster than the woman who came first in 2010! (I think).
Just like a tiger hunting for a deer that is totally focused is just like how Lisa got the gold medal. She is not going to keep her eyes off the prize. I’m sure she must have worked hard every morning of the week. I like her cool technique, how she grabs that oar with her long arms and scoops it in the deep water, to reach the finish line. Deep long breaths are helping her body to move even faster.

Make sure you practice because maybe you might be an athlete just like Lisa Carrington. I love canoeing about the same amount as Lisa. I can’t wait until the next Olympics open in Rio in 2016!

Have you ever heard about a great olympic athlete called Mariana Avitia? Her full name is Mariana Avitia Martínez. She was born in September 18, 1993 in Monterrey, Mexico. She is in the Archery Women's Mexican team.

The sport that Mariana competes in is Archery. As you may have heard she is really good at it. She won bronze for the individual women's Archery in the london 2012 summer olympics. At the 2008 Beijing summer olympics she finished her ranking round with a total of 641 points. The women's Mexican team (Mariana Avitia’s team) finished with a gold in the 2011 Guadalajara Pan American Games!!!

The reason I picked Mariana Avitia as my favorite athlete is because when I saw her play Archery in the olympics on television... I was amazed of what she can do. I was very inspired by her determination. Just by watching on television she taught me to never give up whatever happens!!!

I hope you have learnt something from this story. And also enjoyed it. Whatever your goal is don’t stop untill you reach it. Even if it takes a while, keep going!!!

Sarah Walker - By Saadiya

Have you heard about Sarah Walker? She is a New Zealand BMX rider. She has won silver from coming second in BMX in the London Olympic games. I chose this athlete because she is very brave and accurate when she is riding her BMX bike.

Wow, did you know she has won seven races? She was a favourite to win the BMX women's event at the 2008 Beijing olympics. However, she had came fourth. Her birthday is on July the 6th, 1988. Sarah Walker came second in one race and Sarah Walker was ranked number one in the world by the UCI in 2008.

As well as competing in BMX events around the world. Walker has also been a sports Ambassador for beef + Lamb New Zealand since 2008. She is a sponsored rider for avanti bikes using their lines ABD BMX bikes when racing.

Do you know what to do in BMX? Well it is something which you ride on. Have you ridden one? Are you even scared of hearing about it? I am scared!

Adams Claiming Gold - By Jabez

The news came with a terrible cry Belarus shot putter Ostapchuk got stripped from the gold medal after getting tested for drugs. The test said she was positive of using steroids, she crashed to the floor bursting in tears. When they called Adams her eyes flooded she was promoted for the gold, interviewing was everywhere around her.

Adams agreed, telling Radio Live the replacement ceremony would ease her disappointment at not having her win honoured during the games. happiness surrounded Adams as she was still bursting into tears. She said “She wants nothing to do with Ostapchuk."

Gold Medals! - By Martha

New Zealand has won six gold medals after Valerie Adams succeed at the Shot Put. Valerie Adams had won a silver but as they took some tests a lady called Nadezhda was taking drugs and had been cheating. The drugs she has been talking make her as strong as a man. It was used to keep men strong but as she is a lady she could change a bit and turn into a man. But as you haven't noticed that she was baned from the Olympics for 2 years. And that is how Valerie Adams won the gold medal.

Valerie Adams has really proved herself as she said “I don't want to waste any energy on her. I just want to enjoy the moment I have."

Did you know that New zealand shot-putter "Gold Medals" Valerie Adams has her gold back and all thanks to that lady from Belarus! Before she was given the gold medal the olympics tested for drugs all of the people who came first, second and third in shot-putt it turned out that Nadzeya Ostapchuk took drugs!

We were so lucky to get six gold medals at the London Olympics. We were also proud that Valerie Adams has still been the best world shot-putter. I hope that next olympics games that she will keep on winning until she retires and this is from all the people from New zealand, good work!

Do you know much about Tennis? Well I really enjoyed searching stuff and finding out all aboutit.

Do you know all the sports in Olympics? Well I didn’t know until I searched it up. There are heaps of sports they do. The olympics are being held in London this year.

Did you know that Tennis was invented in france ..... we all know what tennis balls look like today a green and fuzzy ball, but have you ever thought what the first tennis balls were made of? Well it was made of wool or hair wrapped up in leather.

Tennis is played on a rectangular flat surface or on grass, hardcorut and concrete. Two people play at once. We use a racket and a tennis ball to play. The clothes you wear are probably t-shirts and maybe shorts and shoes.

Have you seen people in wheelchairs play tennis? Well you know that people in wheelchairs can also play. It got started in 1976.
